By using character.chat you agree to these terms. They cover what the service is, how credits work, what you may not do, and the lines we never cross.
character.chat is an AI character-roleplay app. You chat with original characters — from a curated catalog or ones you create — and the app generates fictional, in-character replies. This release is SFW (no explicit sexual content).
You must be at least [AGE] to use the app. By using it you confirm you meet that age and can form a binding agreement.
Replies are produced by AI. They are fiction and may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unrealistic. Do not rely on them as factual, professional, medical, legal, or financial advice. Characters are not real people and do not represent real individuals.
You are responsible for the characters you create and how you use the app. The following are never permitted, in any form, and override any other setting or character:
You also agree not to: abuse, harass, or harm others; attempt to bypass safety systems; scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload the service; or use it for anything illegal. We use automated safety screening and a publish-review gate for user-created characters, and we may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.
You keep ownership of the characters you create. You grant us the limited license needed to host, display, process, and (if you share an unlisted link) deliver them for the purpose of operating the service. You are responsible for having the rights to whatever you submit.
Your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy — minimal collection, per-chat encryption, and real (crypto-erasure) deletion.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. When safety systems are uncertain, the service fails closed (it blocks rather than risks an unsafe output), which can mean a reply is refused. We may update these terms; continued use after a material change means you accept it.
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, especially the absolute lines in §5.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited as set out here: [LIABILITY CAP — counsel to complete]. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to [VENUE / DISPUTE RESOLUTION — counsel to complete].
